Awards

Awards are established by the volunteer organizing committee to support the attendance of several program directors who are faculty members at institutions that are low research active (LRA institutions have had less than $7.5 million dollars in NIH RPG support per year in three of the last five years), as well as faculty members who identify as underrepresented in the biomedical sciences. Funds may be applied towards the cost of travel and/or lodging. Limited funds are also available for poster presenters to offset the overall costs of attending this conference.

Available Awards
Thanks to generous support from our sponsors, we have several meeting scholarships of up to $1000 available to faculty/program directors attending the meeting. Additional awards of $500 will be available to program directors who present a poster. Awards will be used to reimburse travel and/or hotel costs.

Minimum eligibility requirements

• Must attend the entire conference.
• Must be a Program Director or Faculty Member.
• Must be from an LRA institution, or identify as a faculty member underrepresented in the biomedical sciences.
• For the poster award: must present a poster at the conference.
  
  

How to Apply
Please send an email to the volunteer organizing committee asking to be considered for the travel and/or poster award(s) with 1) a statement indicating how you meet the eligibility criteria listed above, 2) your NIH biosketch, and 3) your abstract (if applying for the poster award). All information will be kept confidential.

Application Deadline
Applications must be received by June 7, 2024. Award winners will be informed via email by June 6 and will receive their reimbursement shortly after the conclusion of the conference. Participants may be asked for receipts to document their expenses.
