Protein Lipidation: Enzymology, Signaling, Therapeutics

For over 30 years, this conference has brought together biomedical researchers and scientists who study protein lipidation. It is the premier venue for professionals from diverse areas of specialization to come together and discuss new ideas, forming synergistic collaborations. 

This year’s program will focus on mechanisms and consequences of acylation, prenylation, and post-prenylation processing of proteins. Sessions will also discuss the synthesis and transport of intracellular lipids as well as the importance of protein-lipid interactions for cellular signaling at specialized membrane domains and their relevance in disease. 

Research presented at past conferences has paved the way for major biomedical advances, including the development of FDA-approved therapeutics such as statins, bisphosphonates, and prenyltransferase inhibitors. These discoveries, rooted in basic research on protein–lipid modifications and signaling, exemplify the translational advances with direct clinical impact.

Workshops

The Meet the Experts session will feature faculty experts in four key areas: chemistry, cell biology, structural biology, and preclinical/clinical research. Participants will be encouraged to ask questions about protein lipidation from the perspective of each discipline.

A Career Development Workshop will feature discussions on career trajectories and professional development.
