G Protein-coupled Receptor Kinases and Arrestins

For nearly 10 years, this conference has brought together academic and commercial scientists with an interest in beta-arrestins, G protein-coupled receptor (GPCR) kinases (GRKs), and related drug development.

This year’s conference will discuss the central role GRKs and arrestins play in the regulation of GPCRs, which regulate nearly every aspect of human physiology and are a target of over 30% of FDA-approved drugs. The program seeks to share research about GRKs and arrestins and how they regulate receptor desensitization, signaling, trafficking, and degradation, little of which is fully understood, particularly the regulation of endocytosis and nuclear activities. There is a significant drive in the scientific community, particularly within academia and the pharmaceutical industry, to understand how GRKs and arrestin function at the molecular, cellular, and physiological levels. Topics will range from the fundamental mechanisms underlying their activity to their physiology and drug development.

This conference will provide opportunities for scientists, particularly early-career researchers, to improve their skills and facilitate networking to develop their scientific careers. There will also be a focus on providing opportunities for researchers from historically excluded groups.
