Conference Summary

The second convening of this successful conference will examine cutting-edge research that uncovers how ion channels and transporters (ICTs) regulate immune cell signaling, metabolism, and function in both innate and adaptive immunity. Experts and early-career scientists at the intersection of immunology, ion channel physiology, biophysics, and structural biology will present the latest findings in how ICTs affect inflammation, asthma, allergies, autoimmune diseases, anti-tumor immunity, and infection. 

This year’s program will explore a range of topics, including calcium signaling in lymphocytes, the role of mechanosensitive channels in immune surveillance, and the function of nutrient transporters in immune metabolism. Attendees will also examine the ICTs in autoimmunity, neuroinflammation, and cancer, as well as emerging approaches to target these molecules. Advances in structural biology, synthetic biology, and computational modeling will be featured throughout the program.

This conference will provide a cross-disciplinary agenda with clinical and research applications relevant to immunologists, biologists, and scientists interested in translational approaches to immune regulation. It is a unique opportunity to engage with a diverse research community and contribute to shaping the future of ICT research in immunity.

Workshops

Meet the Expert sessions will be held as lunch gatherings where 8-10 trainees meet with established researchers for personalized guidance on career transitions, grant writing, publishing, and work-life balance in academia. 

Jointly organized with the co-located conference, a Career Development Workshop will feature a panel discussion with representatives from academia, industry, government, and publishing. These interactive sessions cover diverse career paths, networking strategies, and professional skills development, small group breakouts, and practical exercises.
