Ubiquitin Mechanisms, Functions, and Therapeutics

Since 1989, this meeting has explored all biological and chemical aspects of UB/UBL signaling and targeted protein degradation. It is the longest-running international conference for new and exciting developments in research within this field. It provides a forum for collaboration among scientists working in academic, government, and industrial settings to translate research advancements into novel clinical treatments. This conference has laid the groundwork for widely used treatments such as proteasome inhibitors (bortezomib and carfilzomib), which are used to treat hematological cancers. 

This year’s program will span a wide range of experimental systems and resolutions, fostering collaboration among scientists who study different aspects of UB/UBL biology, including the roles of specific modification pathways, the structure and function of modifying enzymes and recognition machinery, the regulatory networks involved in health and disease, and the development of small-molecule probes or potential therapeutics.

Attendees will learn about:

· A broad spectrum of experimental systems and levels of resolution, including atomic, molecular, pathway, network, organellar, cellular, tissue, and organism.

· Established and novel roles played by UB/UBL conjugation in health and disease.

· Recent developments in the targeted protein degradation field and their translation into therapeutic benefits to patients.

Workshops

A Meet the Experts session will feature four senior scientists, each explaining their career trajectory and how they achieved it, with time for additional discussion from early-career researchers.

A Career Development Workshop will be held. Details will be announced at a later date.

Ignite Career Forum (Pre-conference Workshop)

The Pre-conference Workshop, "Ignite Career Forum", will be held on Monday, June 1 from 10:00 – 12:00 followed by lunch (12:00 to 13:00) and an afternoon session (13:00 – 17:00). Attendees can add the Ignite Career Forum during the conference registration process. Please check the Online Agenda for detailed information. 

We invite undergraduate and graduate students, postbaccalaureate and postdoctoral fellows, and technical research and staff scientists to present their work in a friendly and collaborative environment in the form of a short talk (15 min). Two talks will be chosen for a spot in the main-meeting. We especially encourage scientists from historically excluded groups to apply. Those interested in giving a talk must submit an abstract describing their research. The chair of the Ignite Career Forum will select talks approx. 2 weeks after the abstract deadline.
