Conference Summary
This brand-new conference focuses on the field of nuclear mechanobiology and its physiological relevance for cell and tissue function. The program is designed to facilitate successful interdisciplinary collaborations to take on challenging questions in this rapidly growing discipline.
The conference provides a timely forum to discuss the most recent advances in understanding the role of mechanical forces in modulating cellular decision-making by altering nuclear and chromatin biophysics. It will also provide insight into the role these processes play in fundamental cell biological processes such as cell migration, differentiation, development, and malignant transformation.
Attendees will learn about:
· The dynamics regarding nuclear mechanobiology, nuclear mechanosensation, and cell state regulation.
· The best practices, technical expectations, and state-of-the-art tools in the field.
· How the nucleus influences and controls cellular processes within mechanobiology.
· Insights into how mechanical forces influence nuclear function and cellular behavior can identify potential therapeutic targets.
Program Topics
· The nucleus as a cellular mechanosensor
· Mechanics of the cell nucleus and its connection to the cytoskeleton
· Nuclear mechanobiology in cell migration and/or cell cycle
· Mechanical forces, nuclear integrity, and genomic integrity
· Computational modeling of the nucleus and periphery
· Nuclear mechanobiology as a driver of cell fate decisions
· When nuclear mechanobiology goes awry - the nucleus and disease
· Cell and nuclear morphodynamics and implications for cellular decisions
· Nuclear mechanobiology of immune cells
Workshops
A Meet the Expert session will be held each day of the conference in the form of a direct mentoring meeting or a panel discussion forum.
A Career Development Workshop will occur between scientific sessions on each full day of the conference, focusing on effective leadership, best practices for inclusivity in research, emerging topics in mechanobiology, and bridging the gap between computational and experimental research.
