B Vitamins and One-Carbon Metabolism

For nearly 40 years, this conference has been the premier venue for scientists and clinicians to share the latest research advances, exchange ideas, and generate new collaborations in the realm of one-carbon metabolism (OCM) and B vitamins. This year’s program will explore how deficiencies in B vitamins or relevant enzymes disrupt OCM, its effect on human health, the latest approaches to correcting disruptions, and optimal methods for detecting and diagnosing impaired OCM.

Past conferences on this topic have provided real-world clinical solutions to B vitamin deficiencies. Neural tube defects (NTDs) have been reduced by 25–40 percent in the United States and 80 other countries due to guidelines for fortification of grain products with folic acid developed by scientists at this conference. This year’s conference aims to develop recommendations to improve public health and lifespan based on new research showing the critical role of vitamin B12 in supporting brain health.

Workshops

A Meet the Experts session focused on multi-omics analyses will pair early-career researchers with experienced investigators to discuss a research approach that combines data from multiple disciplines.

Two Career Development Workshops will be held. Early-career researchers will have the opportunity to discuss publishing and grant writing with senior scientists in a panel discussion format.
