Conference Summary

Since its inception in 1995, this meeting has brought together researchers of hematologic malignancies to share their work at the leading edge of the field. It is aimed at scientists studying the molecular pathogenesis of cancers of the blood to exchange knowledge and facilitate collaborations to find novel and effective treatments and therapies.

This year’s program will cover the latest fundamental insights into the molecular pathogenesis of lymphoid and myeloid malignancies, mechanisms of drug response and resistance, and emerging therapeutics. This is a highly interactive meeting with a strong focus on collaboration, networking, and career development for early-career scientists.

Attendees will learn about:

· New insights into the molecular and cellular evolution of premalignant disorders and hematologic malignancies.

· Emerging technologies for studying hematologic malignancies

· Novel therapeutic strategies for blood cancers.

Program Topics

· Molecular pathogenesis of blood cancers

· Control of stem cell function and differentiation

· Premalignant hematopoiesis,

· The immune microenvironment

· New technologies in the field

· Novel drug targets and therapeutic approaches

Workshops

A Meet the Experts lunchtime roundtable will be held with a group of preeminent mentors, who will discuss finding the right project, how to write a successful grant application, finding jobs in industry and academia, and navigating peer review.

Two Career Development Workshops will be offered. “Building Your CV as an Early-Career Scientist,” which will provide practical guidance for building a spectacular CV as you advance in your career. “Transitioning to Independence in Academia or Industry” will provide early-career researchers guidance on choosing the right position, building a thriving team, and learning to be an effective leader.
