Conference Summary
For over 30 years, this conference has brought together a group of vision scientists with diverse approaches to the latest research and technical advances exploring the relationship between the structure and function of the retina and visual processing.
This year’s program will explore how the retina develops, processes visual information, and connects with the brain, as well as new insights into retinal diseases and repair. Highlights will include discoveries regarding how light-sensitive proteins influence brain activity, the creation and functionality of synapses in the retina, and interactions between retinal cells and blood vessels. Researchers will also present advances in understanding vision-related conditions, such as myopia, glaucoma, and diabetic retinopathy, along with new computational models of how the retina detects motion and direction.
Attendees will learn about:
· Insights into retinal structure, function, and development under physiological conditions.
· Disease mechanisms in the retina and emerging therapeutic strategies.
· The newest innovative technologies and research tools that advance retinal investigations.
Program Topics
· Retinal development
· Neural structure and function
· Synaptic and circuit processing
· Retinal pathways and behavior
· Non-neuronal structure and function
· Visual computation
· Beyond retina
· Retinal dysfunction and repair
· New technologies and tools
Workshops
A Meet the Experts session will feature senior scientists and small groups of early-career investigators for discussions on research methods, career trajectories, publishing, and more.
A Career Development Workshop will focus on strategies for achieving professional objectives.
