Conference Summary

Since 2009, this Science Research Conference has brought together researchers and clinicians investigating the diverse roles of NAD+ and its metabolites in cellular health, aging, and disease. With growing interest in the NAD metabolome—from fundamental biochemistry to therapeutic applications—this meeting provides a vital platform for interdisciplinary collaboration and knowledge exchange for the entire NAD metabolome, such as NAD+, NADH, NADP+, NADPH, NaADP, ADP-Ribose, cyclic ADPR, Methylated-Nam, and pyridone nucleotides. The history of this series is directly related to the development and refinement of PARP inhibitors, which are now widely used in oncology, particularly for BRCA-mutated cancers. Clinical trials continue to explore the therapeutic potential of novel inhibitors targeting mono-ADP-ribosyltransferases within the PARP family.

This year’s program will further study the age-dependent changes of NAD metabolome and aging-related diseases. The program will also review investigations of NAD+ repletion as a potential strategy to counteract age-related or injury-induced pathologies in muscle and cardiovascular physiology, Parkinson’s, neuroprotection, and autoimmune and inflammatory diseases.

Attendees will learn about:

· The most recent discoveries in the NAD+-mediated signaling, from biochemical aspects to clinical data and disease.

· The most recent techniques used in the NAD+ field.

· How clinical studies have evaluated NAD+ repletion’s promise as a pharmaceutical intervention

· Therapeutic potential of novel inhibitors targeting mono-ADP-ribosyltransferases within the PARP family.

Program Topics

· NAD consumers I: Poly and Mono-ADP-Ribosylation

· NAD consumers II: Sirtuins, CD38, SARM1/TIR-Domain

· NAD(P)/NAD(P)H redox and signaling biology

· Compartmentalization of NAD-dependent metabolites and signals

· Systemic NAD metabolism

· Steady state and flux measurement methodologies for NAD metabolites

· NAD in general health and aging

· NAD in age-associated metabolic diseases and cancer

· NAD in neurobiology, AD, and other dementias

Workshops

Meet the Experts sessions will be held with leaders in NAD research, focused on research methods, mentoring, and career trajectories.

Career Development Workshops will focus on three main topics. Journal editors will discuss how to evaluate manuscripts, what makes a paper high-impact, and how to successfully navigate the publishing process. Industry representatives will review career opportunities in biotech and pharma and how to translate research into commercial ventures. Government funding representatives will discuss securing research funds, understanding grant evaluation criteria, and engaging with agencies in the current economic and political climate.
